Steele
NAHUNTA – Evelyn Levene Davis Steele, 80 of Nahunta, passed away Wednesday morning, September 30, 2026 at her residence.
Born in Waycross, Mrs. Steele’s parents were Orbie Davis and Inez Corb itt Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husb and, Richard Steele; four brothers, Lee Davis, Billy Davis, Elton Davis and Bunk Davis; and a sister, Luvelle Mullis.
Mrs. Steele was a homemaker and a member of The Foundation. She loved spending time with her family and friends, going to church, shopping and getting her nails done.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Eric McClellan (Angela) of McKinney, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Robin Ham (Kippy) of Hoboken; seven grandchildren, Ashton Ham, Annah Ham, Faith Steedley (Jake), Emmanuel McClellan (Louella), Ericka Vanderslice (Micah), Micah McClellan and Ezra McClellan; three great grandchildren, Kipp Steedley, Ivy Vanderslice and Olivia Vanderslice; a brother, Orbie “Shorty” Davis of Waycross; three sisters and brothers-inlaw, Jean Joyner of Waycross, Delores Bennett (Huey) of Millwood and Mary Ann Zorn (Bill) of Axson; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A graveside service was held Saturday morning, October 3, 2026 at Axson Cemetery with Bishop Eric McClellan and Pastor Ashton Ham officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Hughes, Kevin Fletcher, Bo Collins and Hank Davis.
