This past week my aunt Janie had a fall. My granny Julie, who drowned in the Satilla River in 1970 when I was only seven years old, was her sister.
I barely remember my granny. Aunt Janie is presently at Bayview Nursing Home going through rehab.
Doctors had to put a rod and screws in her hip. She also broke her collar bone.
Aunt Janie is 95 years old. She said she has never had any kind of surgery before, except for having her kids.
I asked her what happened and she told me that she had fixed uncle Edward, who is 98, something to eat. She turned around in the kitchen and fell hard on the floor and knew something was broken.
Then she had to lay there and wait until someone came to check on them. I’m sure that she was in a lot of pain.
I hope she can get through this. I know a lot of people are pulling for her.
