A Blackshear vape store was one of four in Pierce, Wayne and Long Counties that were raided and closed last Monday, September 21, for selling illegal items.
According to Sheriff Ramsey Bennett, his office and those in Wayne and Long County and the Law Enforcement Division of the Georgia Department of Agriculture executed eight simultaneous search warrants on vape stores in Blackshear, Jesup and Ludowici.
The raid was the result of an eight-month long investigation, a joint media release from the law enforcement agencies said.
The action led to several arrests, and a number of vehicles, weapons and products of contraband being confiscated, authorities said.
All four stores were selling illegal items and all have been closed.
All the stores are owned by Yemeni nationals. No additional details were released.
The case is still under investigation by all four agencies.
“This case once again proves that Georgia sheriff’s work tirelessly to protect their citizens and their cooperation with the Georgia Department of Agriculture has made Pierce, Wayne and Long Counties safer places to live,” the release said. “Cooperation between sheriffs and state agencies is paramount in stopping complex criminal organizations like this one.
