STATESBORO — Ware County head coach Jason Strickland was looking for the kind of game the Gators delivered at home a week ago in the matchup here against Region 1AAAAA rival Statesboro.
“We needed to go and play a quality opponent and play well in all three phases of the game,” Strickland said after his team bounced the Blue Devils 45-14 in a game that had a running clock for most of the second half. “We did that, and I’m really proud of the guys. this was our most complete game of the year. We needed a game like this.”
The win was the second straight for the Gators (32, 2-0 in 1-AAAAA) after two straight losses. Statesboro dropped to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the region with a second straight loss.
