NAHUNTA — A Nahunta woman has died from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle accident earlier this month on U.S. 82 in Brantley County, the Georgia State Patrol said.
Chelsea Nicole Leland, 37, was injured Friday, September 11, when she lost control of the electric bicycle she was riding and was thrown from the vehicle, the GSP report said. Leland was transported after the accident by Brantley EMS to Southeast Georgia Health in Brunswick where she succumbed to the injuries Sunday, September 27.
Leland was riding a 2025 Concord E-Bike on U.S. 82 near mile marker 20 at the time of the 7:04 p.m. accident, according to the report. She was traveling east on the north shoulder of the west bound side of traffic when she struck rumble strips and lost control.
Leland was thrown from the bike, which came to an uncontrolled rest with its handlebars rotated 180 degrees, the report said.
GSP Trooper Austin Edwards investigated the accident.
