Brantley County split a Region 3-AAA two-game series with 10th-ranked Toombs County and split a three-team engagement in Jesup with Class 4A third-ranked Wayne County and St. Vincent’s Academy.
The Lady Herons (9-6 overall, 3-4 region) lost the rain-delayed opener 6-1 at home Wednesday, September 23 to the Lady Bulldogs (18-3, 9-1). Game one was originally scheduled a day earlier. No details of the game were released.
BCHS bounced back to take a 7-6 decision Thursday, September 24 in Lyons snapping Toombs County’s 10-game winning streak.
Brantley County fell 4-3 to the Lady Yellow Jackets (21-3), winners of seven straight, in the first game Saturday, September 26. The Lady Herons followed with a three-inning, 15-0 victory over the Lady Saints in the second game.
BCHS traveled Monday, September 28 to Kingsland to face Camden County. The Lady Herons visited region foe Tattnall County Tuesday with the two teams squaring home Thursday at 6 p.m. in Caney Bay.
Brantley County is scheduled to play a doubleheader at Bacon County Monday, October 5. The Lady Herons will host Pierce County in the regular season finale Thursday, October 8 at 6 p.m.

LYONS — Brantley County’s Edie Lowther hurled a complete game retiring the final seven Lady Bulldog batters helping BCHS escape with a win.
Lowther scattered 10 Toombs County hits. She fanned three and walked three.
All of the scoring was done over the first five innings. Each team had a four-run rally.
Brantley County dented the plate in its first at bat. Lydia Anderson (1-for-4) led off the game with a base hit, stole second and raced home on Rilee Story’s (1for-4) sacrifice bunt for a 1-0 lead.
Each team scored a run in the second frame. Madison Walker (1-for-4) blooped a leadoff single and was removed for courtesy runner Halli Knox. After Caden Jones (2-for-3) reached on an error, the Lady Bulldogs retired the next two batters.
Kysnslea Garrison’s (2-for-3) two-out single followed a fielder’s choice at third with Jones scoring for a 2-0 advantage.
Toombs County cut the deficit in half with a run in the bottom of the inning on a one-out sacrifice fly to trail 2-1.
BCHS followed a scoreless third with a four-run fourth ignited by a Jones first-pitch leadoff homer. Lowther doubled with one out and was removed for courtesy runner Palmer Woods.
Garrison’s ensuing bunt was thrown away for a three-base error with Palmer scoring for a 4-1 lead. Anderson’s groundout one-pitch later plated Garrison for a 5-1 advantage.
Three consecutive singles followed. Story and Addisyn Grafford roped first-pitch singles ahead of a Sydnee Davis (2-for-4) run-scoring single extending the margin to 6-1.
The Lady Bulldogs plated a run in the bottom of the inning after loading the bases with two outs on a pair of singles and a walk. Toombs County scored on a two-out single to get to with 62.
Jones blasted her second homer of the game leading off the fifth with what proved to be the winning run and a 7-2 lead.
Toombs County answered with a four-run rally in the bottom of the inning to get to within 7-6. A bases loaded, two-run single knocked in the first two runs. A sacrifice fly and a groundout plated the final two runs before the inning ended.
Brantley County left the bases loaded in the top of the sixth with Story reaching on a leadoff error and Grafford lining a base hit. Jones was intentionally walked with two outs.

JESUP — Wayne County scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to rally past the Lady Herons for the win.
Trailing 2-1 since the second inning, Brantley County scored twice in the top of the seventh to grab a 3-2 lead. Garrison (1-for-3) kept the inning alive with a two-out single.
After Anderson (2-for-4) followed with a base hit, Story’s ensuing fly ball was misplayed into a two-base error with both Garrison and Anderson scoring for the one-run advantage.
The Lady Yellow Jackets would also take advantage of an error in the bottom of the inning. A leadoff single and stole base was followed by a groundout moving the runner to third.
After a walk put runners on the corners, the trail runner took second. Both runners scored on a base hit and a fielding error for the walkoff win.
Wayne County struck for two runs in the first against Lowther (6.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R 3 ER, 0 K, 2 BB, 1 WP). Back-to-back one-out doubles and a two-out, run-scoring single gave the Lady Yellow Jackets the early advantage.
BCHS cut the deficit in half when Davis (1-for-3) led off the second inning with a solo homer pulling the Lady Herons to within 2-1.
The Lady Herons left two on in the fourth with a leadoff walk to Story and Jones getting hit by a two-out pitch. They would strand Anderson in the fifth when she reached on a two-out error. Grafford (1-for-4) was left standing in the sixth after a leadoff single.

Hall fanned five and hit a batter while facing just one over the minimum.
Brantley County plated four runs in the first, nine in the second and ended the game in the third via the 15-run mercy rule plating two runs.
Story (1-for-2) lifted a sacrifice fly to score Anderson (1-for-2), who singled and followed with thefts of second and third, with the first run.
Grafford (2-for-3) followed with a double and scored when Davis (1-for-1) singled three pitches later. Davis, who took second on the throw home, stole third and trotted home on a Jones’ (1-for-3) single for a 3-0 lead.
After a Walker (2-for-2) single, Flowers reached on an error plating Knox, who was courtesy running for Walker.
BCHS scored eight runs after two outs in second inning. Grafford drove in the first run before the second out was recorded. Six consecutive batters reached to score the next eight runs extending the margin to 13-0.
The Lady Herons scored the final two runs in the bottom of the third. Davis was hit by a pitch and Jones reached on an error. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch and scored on Walker’s (2-for-2) line drive single to center.
