Dewey Edward Bagley, 80, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday morning, September 24, 2026, at his residence.
Born in Waycross April 22, 1946, he lived in Ware County for many years before moving to Pierce County in 2003. He served in the U.S. Navy before going to work and later retiring from CSX Transportation where he worked for over 40 years. He also owned and managed apartments in Waycross and had owned a farm in Dixie Union. In his free time, he enjoyed mowing grass, watching westerns and spending time with family, especially the grandchildren who he dearly loved. He and the love of his life, the late Debra Thrift Deen, had enjoyed traveling and shopping which were, truth be told, just more ways he found to spoil her. He was a member of First Baptist Church – Blackshear where he was in the Misfits Sunday school class.
He was a son of the late Elbert Dewey and Mary Yawn Bagley. In addition to Debra, he was also preceded in death by all three of his sisters, Deloris Sharpe, Linda Gail Gregory and Minnie Elizabeth “Beth” Nelson and a brother, Danny Bagley.
Survivors include his daughter, Kandi (David) Crews, Blackshear; two sons, Matt Deen (fiance’ Amanda Allen), Waycross and Kidd (Nishita) Deen, Blackshear; a brother, Leonard Calvin “L.C.” (Jeanette) Bagley, Lawrence, TN; a brother-in-law, Dennis Nelson, Statesboro; five grandchildren, Mackenzie Deloach (fiance’ Aaron Patton), Kayleigh Crews (fiance’ Kyle Hendricks), Kalissa Crews, Jace Johnson and Arya Deen; two great-grandchildren, Walker Patton and Kace Hendricks and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Bill Young and Bill Cason officiating.
Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.
The family kindly requests members of the Misfits Sunday school class to serve as honorary pallbearers. Please meet at the funeral home chapel by 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
