WAYCROSS — Mr. James Allen “Rusty” Lynch, 79, of Waycross, died Saturday night, September 12, 2026, at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness.
Lynch was born in Morgantown, W.Va., to the late Dona l d Golden Lynch and Nora Josephine Nale Lynch. H e moved to Waycross at an early age, where he graduated from Waycross High School in 1965. While in high school, he served as a student athletic trainer for the Waycross High School football team.
Lynch was retired from the State of Georgia and was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He enjoyed reading in his spare time, always had a smile on his face, and brightened the day of anyone he encountered.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lynch of Waycross; two brothers, Dr. Richard Lynch and his wife, Tillie, of Waycross, and Steve Lynch and his wife, Denise, of Claxton; along with numerous other relatives.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, September 23) in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, 31501.
