WAYCROSS — Shelton Carl Inman, 89, of Waycross died Sunday afternoon, September 21, 2026, at Harborview Pierce County after an extended illness.
Inman was born in Atkinson County to the late Vernie Lee Inman and Maggie Marie Green Inman, and made Waycross his home for most of his life. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Division in France.
Inman later went on the be the owner/operator of Inman’s 66 Service Station and was a man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of The Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by six siblings, Lenard Lee Inman, Ella Inman Davis, Alex Knoles “Bill” Inman, Marvin Vernie Inman, Jeanette Inman Morgan, and Nadine Inman Wright.
Inman is survived by his wife, Waniece Williams Inman, of Waycross; three sons, James Edward Inman of Blackshear, Paul Gregory Inman, wife Rosalind, of Blackshear, Ronald Jerome Inman, wife Kathy, of Blackshear; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 24 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Little Utah Cemetery in Atkinson County. The family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
