Traffic along Valdosta Highway was interrupted around noon Tuesday, September 15 when a tractortrailer carrying logs overturned, a Ware County Sheriff’s Office accident report said.
Terron Stonecypher, 65, of Nashville, Ga., was driving a CL-12 Freightliner east on the roadway near its intersection with Idaho Street when he lost control of the rig, spilling logs across the highway, the report said.
Stonecypher sustained a cut on his head, but no other injuries were reported in the single-vehicle accident.
WCSO Sgt. Theresa Wright responded about 11:54 a.m. to the scene of the wreck. According to the report, Stonecypher said as he was approaching the intersection with Idaho driving about 55 mph when he said he felt he was losing the trailer.
Posted speed limit in the area and the curve in the road is 45 mph, the report said.
The vehicle and trailer sustained extensive damage after overturing and were removed from the scene by wrecker.
The road was closed for nearly two hours to clear the vehicle and trailer, as well as clean up the logs.
