Ware County fell twice on the softball diamond losing to Camden County and Wayne County at home.
The Lady Gators’ (6-12 overall, 3-2 Region 1-AAAAA) seventh inning comeback bid Tuesday, September 15 against the Class 7A Wildkittens (8-9) came up two runs short in an 86 setback.
The third-ranked regionmate Lady Yellow Jackets (17-3, 7-0) completed the season sweep of Ware County posting a 12-0, 0ne-hit five-inning victory Thursday, September 17. Wayne County notched a 9-1 home win August 27.
WCHS goes on the road to play three of its four games this week — two against region foes. The Lady Gators played Tuesday, September 22 at Jenkins-Savannah followed by a Wednesday, September 23 trip to Brunswick High for a doubleheader.
Regionmate Statesboro’s visit Thursday, September 24 wraps up the week. Ware County will entertain Charlton County Monday, September 28 in a non-region doubleheader. The Lady Gators travel to Augusta to face Richmond Academy in a region doubleheader Thursday, October 1.

Ware County scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh bringing the tying run to the plate twice before the final out was recorded.
Camden County extended a 42 lead to an 8-4 advantage scoring four two-out runs in the top of the seventh against Teriayn Kirkland (7 IP, 7 H, 8 R, 5 ER, 6 K, 3 BB, 1 HBP).
The Wildkittens plated its first run on a passed ball, two raced home on a double with an error allowing the final run in.
Ware County’s first four batters reached and scored in the bottom of the inning. Genesis Walker (2-for-3) opened the inning with a single and raced to third on Darah Durrance’s (3for-3) first pitch single.
Kara Coleman (2-for-4) blooped the ensuing pitch for a run-scoring single cutting the margin to 8-3. Kirkland (2-for-4) followed with a two-run triple and scored on Addi Pittman’s grounder closing the deficit to 86.
After Mattie Forsyth reached on a one-out error, Camden County was able to retire the next two batters to escape.
The Wildkittens broke a scoreless tie in the third inning with its first four-run uprising. Two runs scored on RBI singles and two scored on a fielding error.
Ware County left the bases loaded in the bottom of the third and two on in the fourth before breaking through in the fifth.
Consecutive doubles by Durrance and Coleman put runners at second and third with Durrance’s courtesy runner throwing down an anchor. Consecutive groundouts by Kirkland and Pittman pushed home both runners.

The Lady Yellow Jackets scored in every inning to back the one-hit shutout of Morgan Boatright for the win.
Cassidy Lee recorded the lone base hit with a one-out single in the second. Lee was the only base runner for the Lady Gators.
Reagan Middleton worked a one-out walk in the first. Forsyth led off the second reaching on an error and Durrance drew a two-out walk with Ware County leaving the bases loaded.
Middleton reached on a oneout error in the third. Natalie Pittman would also reach on a two-out error in the fourth.
Middleton (1.2 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 1 K, 0 BB) and Kirkland (3.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 WP) toed the rubber for the Lady Gators.
Wayne County scored three of its four first inning runs after two outs. Following a four-hit first trip to the plate, the Lady Yellow Jackets slapped six hits in the second to score three times in building a 7-0 lead.
The visitors scored once in the third frame when a two-out error extended the inning.
A two-out, four-base error allowed three runners to circle the bases in the fourth inning helping Wayne County to an 11-0 lead.
A run-scoring single in the fifth finished off the Lady Yellow Jackets’ scoring.
