NAHUNTA – Christopher Allen Benjamin, 47 of Nahunta, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Southeast Georgia Health System after an extended illness.
Born in Brunswick, Benjamin’s parents are Philip Albert Benjamin and Laura Faye Brock Benjamin of Hortense. He is preceded in death by a stepson, Christopher Ira Johns; paternal grandparents, William Richard Benjamin and Evelyn Florence Scholle Benjamin; maternal grandparents, Ernest Douglas Brock, Sr. and Ellen Agnes Taylor Brock, three uncles, Michael Peter Benjamin, John Russell Brock and Ernest Douglas Brock, Jr; an aunt, Marsha Brock Bailey; and a cousin, Christopher Edward Benjamin, Jr..
Benjamin painted homes, did construction work and loved making things with his hand to give to others as gift.
He was an avid collector of knives and tools, cooking, playing card games and loved lyrical free style singing. Benjamin was a very warm, outgoing, open person who never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Crews Benjamin of Nahunta; his parents, Philip and Laura Benjamin of Hortense; his brother, Edward Benjamin (Fiancé, Jennifer) of Hortense; his sister, Sarah Benjamin of Savannah; stepson, Rodney Harris of Nahunta; stepdaughter, Jessica Johns (Kayla) of Nahunta; step grandchildren, Peyton, Greyson, Dawson and Waylon Paul Johns; mother-in-law, Pauline Crews of Nahunta; aunt, Cindy West of Rich Hill, Missouri; uncle, Christopher E. Benjamin, Sr., of McHenry, Illinois; cousins, Ernest Douglas III, Tasha, Jody, Emily, Courtney and Aaron; and also several other relatives and a host of friends.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
