3rd annual Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk Sat., Sept. 19
WAYCROSS — The 3rd annual Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk will be held Saturday, September 19 from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Waycross/Ware County Airport located at 3098 Keen Drive.
Activities include finger nail and face painting, gift drawings, Chelle’s Shaved Ice, information booths, praise and worship band, free hotdogs/chips/drinks, free Suicide Awareness merchandise and guest speakers including Lindsey Tucker Tatum.
All proceeds will go toward the nonprofit organization “Daniel Smile, Inc.”, which contributes to the Daniel Bennett Scholarship awarded every year to a high school senior.

Exchange Club’s ‘Believe in Blue’ 5K/Fun Run is Sat., Sept. 26
NAHUNTA — The Brantley County Exchange Club is holding a ‘Believe in Blue’ 5K and Fun Run Saturday, September 26 at Brantley County Recreation Department.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., with the 5K run starting at 8:30 a.m. The Fun Run is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be issued at 10 a.m.
All of the proceeds will benefit local charities and the Prevention of Child Abuse.
Cosplay Contest to be held at library Saturday, September 26
NAHUNTA — The Brantley County Library is hosting a Family Friendly Cosplay Contest Saturday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Cosplay competitions showcase handmade costumes, theatrical skits and character accuracy for prizes and recognition.
The contest has three divisions — Best Group, Best Villan and Best Hero. No real or realistic-looking weapons are allowed.
Lake BCRD Bass Roundup is Saturday, September 26
NAHUNTA — The Lake BCRD (Brantley County Recreation Department) Bass Roundup is scheduled for Saturday, September 26 from 3 p.m.-6 p.m.
Check-in begins at 3 p.m. Registration is $20 or you can register online at brantley. recdesk.com.
Only bass 10 inches or less will count towards a fisherman’s total. Fish will be turned in to staff at the staging area. A prize will be awarded the person who catches the most at the end of the event.

AMVETS Post 1857 ‘Meet and Greet’ with Fish Frye is Sept. 26
BLACKSHEAR — AMVETS Post 1857 will hold a Meet and Greet Saturday, September 26 at the Pierce County Chamber of Commerce located at 200 SW Central Avenue.
The 10 a.m., event is looking for mothers, wives, widows, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, step-daughters and granddaughters of the American Veteran and female veterans to form the first-ever Ladies Auxiliarly. If you have no military association, you can be an honorary member.
A fish fry will follow the Meet and Greet.
