WAYCROSS — The Okefenokee Alliance for the Homeless (OATH), known throughout the community for its work serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness and housing instability, is entering a new chapter as OATH Recovery, Inc.

The organization said in its newsletter the new name reflects the growth of the organization and a broader commitment to helping individuals and families overcome the many challenges that can stand between them and long-term stability. While housing and homelessness services remain an important part of the organization’s work, OATH Recovery is expanding its focus on recovery from substance use disorder, connection to resources, and wholeperson support.

OATH Recovery serves individuals and families throughout Ware, Pierce, and Brantley counties. The organization recognizes that homelessness, substance use, mental health challenges, financial hardship, and other barriers are often interconnected.

OATH Recovery seeks to meet people where they are and help them identify an avenue toward stability, recovery, and self-sufficiency.

OATH was incorporated in 2017 as a nonprofit corporation and also designated as a State of Hope by the Georgia Department of Children and Family Services.
