NAHUNTA — A Jacksonville, Fla., man is facing a felony shoplifting charge involving power tools stolen from the Nahunta Ace Hardware store.

Tommy Fiffer was taken into custody Tuesday, September 8 by the Nassau County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office in connection with multiple alleged thefts from an Ace Hardware in Nassau County.

Through her review of surveillance footage and other investigative work, Detective Cardon identified both the suspected vehicle and the individual believed to be responsible.

During the investigation, Detective Cardon learned the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office had taken Fiffer into custody in connection with multiple alleged thefts from an Ace Hardware in Nassau County resulting in several felony theft charges in Florida.

“I am extremely proud of the work Detective Cardon has done on this case,” said NPD Chief Brad Todd. “As a new detective, she has shown tremendous eagerness, initiative and determination. She went above and beyond to help one of our local businesses and did not stop after identifying a suspect.

“She continued following the evidence and began coordinating with law-enforcement agencies in both Georgia and Florida. Crimes like these do not affect only the business involved. Retail theft increases operating costs and ultimately contributes to higher prices for every honest customer.

“We are committed to protecting our local businesses and holding those who target our community accountable.”
