Tatum
WAYCROSS — Mr. Kevin Michael Tatum, 62, of Waycross, died Wednesday morning, September 9, 2026, from injuries sustained in a farming accident.
He was born in Waycross on September 10, 1963, to Adel and Verdie Griffin Tatum. He owned and opera ted Tatum & Son, Inc., and was a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church.
Tatum was a loving, caring and dedicated husband, father, “Papa,” son and brother. The true definition of a hard worker, Tatum loved his time outdoors, whether it was working or enjoying his true passion, bear hunting. More than anything, he loved his family and cherished every moment he was able to spend with them.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Howell Tatum; his father, Adel Tatum; his father-inlaw, Alvin Howell; his stepfather, Kay Henderson; and his nephew, Camp Tatum.
Tatum is survived by his wife, Sonya Lee Tatum of Waycross; two children, Cinda Bryson and her husband, Alex, of Waycross, and Justin Tatum and his wife, Melanie, of Waycross; five grandchildren, Kaylin Tatum, Kason Bryson, Reid Tatum, Kolby Bryson, Harley Brooke Bryson, and Madison Bryson; his mother, Verdie Henderson of Waycross; his brother, Gary Tatum and his wife, Cheryl, of Waycross; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Howell of Waycross; his stepdaughter, Lindsey Morgan and her husband, David, of Waycross; four step- grandchildren, Blythe Morgan, Landyn Morgan, Mills Morgan, and Madi Morgan; and numerous other relatives.
A funeral service was held September 14 at Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. Burial followed at his home, 4565 Swamp Road.
