SFW holds vehicle, truck show, Oct. 10 Southern Forest World will hold a car and truck show at 8 a.m. Saturday, October 10 at the Okefenokee Fairgrounds, 2335 Knight Avenue.
Entry fee is $25 with all makes and models welcome. Vendor spots (10 foot by 10 foot) are available for $100.

There will be a 50-50 raffle, door prizes and trophies to the top finishers. Vehicle judging is at 10 a.m.
Suicide Awareness Walk set Saturday The third annual Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, September 19 at the Waycross Ware County Airport, 3098 Keen Drive.
The walk starts around 5:30 p.m. Lindsey Tucker Tatum will be among the guest speakers.
There will be a variety of vendors information booths, gift drawings free hot dogs, chips and drinks. The walk honors those lost and offers support for mental health and suicide prevention.
Attendees are urged to bring a lawn chair. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit organization Daniel Smile, Inc.
Fire department checking hydrants The Waycross Fire Department is checking fire hydrants throughout the city during the month of September.
Anyone experiencing brownish water after a hydrant check in their area should run an outside faucet for several minutes to clear up the water.

Blackshear Amvets fish fry set Sept. 26 Blackshear Amvets Post 1857 celebrates its first anniversary with a community fish fry at noon, Saturday, September 26 at the Blackshear Chamber of Commerce, 200 SW Central Avenue.
The post also is seeking women of all ages who are relatives of veterans to form a Ladies Auxiliary to support and enhance post ctivities during the year. A meeting will be at 10 a.m. prior to the fish fry for information.

Laura S. Walker State Park, 5653 Laura Walker Road, holds is annual Fall Food Truck & Vendor Bazaar from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26.
A variety of food, beverages, crafts, art and other items will be available from vendors. Parks admission is $10 per car without a state park pass.
