Emmanuel’s International Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 600 Genoa Street, will celebrate the 46th Pastoral Anniversary of Archbishop Dr. Michael-Angelo James with a special worship program at 7 p.m., Sunday, September 27.
Guest speaker for the program will be Elder Kenneth Kirksey pastor of the Powerhouse of Faith Ministries, joined by his congregation.
Dr. James, pastor at EIC since 1990, began his journey in ministry August 10, 1980, when he was licensed as a gospel minister followed by his ordination in May 1983 by the Rev. Dr. Eugene James Menifee.
In December 1989, Dr. James accepted the call to Pastor EIC and was installed in February 1990. In 1998, he was elected Senior Bishop by Emmanuel’s Board of Directors.
In February 2002 Dr. James was consecrated under the leadership of Archbishop Dr. Leonard David Love. In 2003, he founded the InterCathedral of Faith Fellowship.
Dr. James, who has served as Mayor of Waycross since 2000, continued to be recognized and was reaffirmed as Bishop Primate in 2008 and elevated to Metropolitan Archbishop of the Global Conference of Bishops in 2018 by Archbishop Dennis Myles Golphin. For more than 25 years, he has served as Overseer of the Church of God in Claxton, Ga.
