BEARVILLE — Pierce County Middle School swept a seven-team Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference home meet Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Bears’ Klare Hewatt (15:10) and Bears’ Paxton Cochran (13:22) each won individual titles at the September 10 event.
The Lady Bears netted 31 points to easily win the event. They were followed by Long County Middle (49), Appling County Middle (85), Brantley County Middle (111), Waycross Middle (133), Bacon County Middle (175) and Ware County Middle (184).
Following Hewatt for the top five PCMS finishers were Jaciee Neal (third; 16:32), Kaylee Carpenter (seventh; 17:07), Irene Sanchez (eighth; 17:09) and Cali Jones (12th; 17:51). No other runners were reported.
The Bears totaled 34 points in lapping the field. They were followed by Appling Middle (84), Ware Middle (90), Long Middle (123; tie-breaker), Brantley Middle (123), Waycross Middle (141) and Bacon Middle (178).
Trailing Cochran for the team score were Max Warren (second; 13:52), Phoenix Usher (fifth; 14:23), Johnny Pena (12th; 14:58) and Cam Yeomans (14th; 15:10). No other runners were reported.
