Waycross Area Community Theatre (WACT) has announced upcoming performances of their first production for the 20262027 season.
“The Savannah Sipping Society” by Jones Hope Wooten is billed as a laugh-out-loud comedy about four unique southern women who bond over weekly happy hours on a veranda, seeking to reclaim their zest for life.
The cast of characters include: Randa Covington (Bethany Mercer), a perfectionist and workaholic architect who suffers from a surprise career derailment and realizes she has no personal life; Marlafaye Mosley (Betsy Kingsbury), a brassy, wisecracking Texas transplant who loves bourbon and still reeling from her husband of 30 years leaving her for a younger woman; Dot Haigler (Tara Cox), a recent widow struggling to make sense of her future after losing the retirement plans she shared with her husband and Jinx Jenkins (Amy Worthington), a fledgling, fast-talking life coach dealing with her own hidden struggles who is the group’s self-appointed guide. There is also an appearance by the Grandmother (Debbie Ratliff). The show is being directed by Pam Fields. Show dates for “The Savannah Sipping Society” are October 1- 3 and 8 - 10 at 7:30 pm nightly and one matinee performance 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 4.
The box office opens one hour prior to each performance. All performances will be held at the historic Ritz Theatre in downtown Waycross.
