About 25 years ago, I started taking pictures on the Altamaha River while fishing with Ralph Gurley.
After Ralph passed away, I quit going and dedicated most of my time to the Satilla River from then on.
M y son, Kyle, has taken up fishing and wanted me to show him where Ralph and I would fish. So, we went back over to Williamsburg Landing last week.
I had just about forgot how beautiful the Altamaha is with the roots and trees on the river banks.
Also last week, after talking with several different publishers about my Okefenokee Swamp book (each one telling me something different), I gave the University of Georgia Press a call and they are very interested in being a publisher of my book.
The lady wanted me to send an old copy for them to examine. I told her that I wanted to make a few changes, such as add UNESCO World Heritage Site to the front cover, especially being this is the first UNESCO site in the state of Georgia.
And, I wanted to change out a few photos that I have won contests with.
I should know something next week on how this is going to turn out.
Like my ole’ buddy Sam Walker used to say, “this could be BIG!”
