Brantley County swept Region 3-AAA foe Islands to cap a three-game slate of region action last week.
The Lady Herons (6-2 overall, 2-1 region) made up one of two region games against neighboring region–mate Pierce County (10-3, 3-2) lost a week earlier to weather falling 5-4 Monday, August 31 in eight innings to the fifth-ranked Lady Bears.
BCHS followed Tuesday, September 1 with a 12-1 rout of visiting Islands (6-4-1, 0-3) in five innings to hand the Lady Sharks a second straight loss. The Lady Herons completed the series sweep Thursday, September 3 winning 15-0 in Savannah in five innings.
Brantley County currently has just one varsity game scheduled this week. No dates for makeup games have been announced. Jeff Davis visited Tuesday, September 8.
The Lady Herons return to region action Tuesday, September 15 at home against top-ranked Appling County. BCHS travels Thursday, September 17 to Baxley.

BEARVILLE — A tworun error with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted PCHS past the Lady Herons.
Brantley County grabbed a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth on a solo home run by Rilee Story (2-for-4), her second round–tripper of the game, off the Lady Bears’ Bailey Barboza (7 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 K, 1 BB, 1 HBP).
In the bottom of the frame, Pierce County’s Leeanna Davis drew a one-out walk with Maelee Childers (2-for-4) legging out a sacrifice bunt against Edie Lowther (1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 K, 2 BB), who was working in relief of Mary Hall (6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 K, 1 BB, 2 HBP).
Barboza kept the inning alive with a two-out walk. Lanie Mai’s (2-for-4) ensuing batted ball was thrown away allowing pinch-runner Kabela Reddick (running for Davis) to score the tying run and Childers to race home with the winner.
The Lady Herons broke up the scoreless game with two runs in the third inning. Hall (1-for-1) extended the inning with a two-out double and trotted home on Story’s first homer to right.
Brantley County padded the margin to 3-0 in the top of the fourth on a leadoff homer from Caiden Jones (1-for-4).
PCHS tied the score at 3-3 in the fifth inning after stranding four runners on base over the first four innings. Barboza reached on a one-out error to set up the rally.
Mai followed the miscue with a double putting runners in scoring position. Kaylee Figueroa (1for-3) lined the ensuing pitch for a two-run double closing the deficit to 3-2. Parker Sinclair (1-for-4) followed a two-out walk to Riley Chambless with a single plating Figueroa with the tying run.
Neither team threatened over the final two innings.
Lydia Anderson, Addisyn Grafford, Madison Walker and Kynli Flowers each were credited with a hit for the Lady Herons.
Lady Herons 12 Islands 1
CANEY BAY — Brantley County did all of its damage over the second and third innings in beating up the Lady Sharks.
BCHS scored three runs in its second trip to the plate and responded to Islands’ lone run in the third with a nine-run uprising.
Lowther worked all five innings for the Lady Herons, allowing just two hits. She finished with 10 strikeouts and a walk during the 68-pitch outing.
Brantley County got the scoring started with consecutive walks to Jones (1for-2, RBI, two stolen bases) and Grafford (stolen base). Jones scored on a throwing error while Grafford raced home on a double by Walker (1-for-1, RBI). Walker’s courtesy runner, Halli Knox, followed her theft of third to score on a passed ball for a 3-0 lead.
The Lady Sharks had three consecutive batters reach in the third inning after Lowther had retired the first seven she faced. A one-out walk and back-toback singles produced the run cutting the deficit to 3-1.
BCHS sent 13 batters to the plate in the home half of the third inning to break the game open.
Anderson (2-for-3, two stolen bases) opened the inning with a walk, stole second and third and scored on an error. Story (1-for-2) blooped a single followed by a four-pitch walk to Sydnee Davis (stolen base).
Story scored from second on Jones’ ensuing sacrifice bunt with Davis reaching third for a 5-1 advantage. Walker’s one-out walk loaded the bases bringing on Knox as a courtesy runner. A double by Flowers (1-for-2) cleared the bases extending the lead to 8-1.
Kynslea Garrison (1-for-2, RBI, stolen base) legged out a sacrifice bunt that scored Flowers, who had advanced to third on an error. Lowther followed a theft of second and a passed ball with a double scoring Garrison for a 101 cushion.
Lowther’s courtesy runner, Palmer Woods (stolen base) moved to third when Anderson beat out her sacrifice bunt. Woods scored on a wild pitch with Anderson racing to third. Story lifted a sacrifice fly to right plating Anderson with the final run and a 12-1 lead.
Lowther retired Islands in order in the fourth and fifth innings.

SAVANNAH — BCHS scored the only runs it needed in the first inning, and extended a nine-run advantage heading to the fifth with a six-run uprising to beat the error-prone Lady Sharks.
Anderson (2-for-4, 2 RBI, three stolen bases) led off with an infield hit, and stole second and third ahead of a walk to Story (2-for-3, stolen base). Davis (2-for-3, double, triple, two RBI) lifted a sacrifice fly scoring Anderson. Grafford’s (2-for-4, RBI) two-out, first-pitch single plated Story for a 20 lead.
The Lady Herons tripled the lead to six runs in the second, scoring four times on five straight oneout base hits for a 6-0 advantage.
Garrison (1-for-2, RBI, stolen base) got the hit parade started with a single. Lowther (2-for-3, RBI, double) followed with a single with each advancing an extra base.
Anderson pushed a bunt single toward short scoring both Garrison and Lowther upping the margin to 4-0. After stealing second, Anderson moved on to third when the throw was bobbled, and scored on Story’s single. Story scored when Davis legged out a triple for the six-run advantage.
BCHS plated three runs in the fourth to build a 90 lead. Lowther doubled leading off, advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored when Anderson’s fly ball was misplayed into a four-base error for an 80 lead.
Davis followed the first out with a double and took third on an error. She eventually scored on a wild pitch swelling the margin to 9-0.
Brantley County iced the game with six runs in the fifth. Walker (1-for-3, RBI) drew a four-pitch, walk leading off and was lifted for Knox (courtesy runner), who raced around to third on Flowers’ sacrifice bunt.
Four errors followed for Islands, which committed 10 for the game. Garrison’s sacrifice fly was dropped allowing Knox to score. Garrison stole second, moved to third on an error and scored when Lowther’s grounder was misplayed for an 11-0 lead.
Woods, pinch-running for Lowther, went to third when Anderson’s fly ball was misplayed into a twobase error. Both runners scored on Story’s infield hit upping the advantage to 13-0.
A two-out single by Jones (1-for-4, RBI) scored Story, and was followed by an infield hit by Grafford putting runners on the corners. Walker drove in the final run with a first-pitch, bloop single.
Hall worked five innings allowing three base hits. She fanned 10 without a walk. She surrendered a leadoff single in the first, a two-out single in the third and a one-out single in the fifth.
