Blackshear Elementary School (BES) is currently accepting nominations for its school council. BES will be adding two parent representatives to serve a two year term.
Nominations will close September 11 and voting will take place from 8-10 a.m. September 15.

MSH to host free Brain Health Seminar Sept. 9 Memorial Satilla Health will host a free community Brain Health Seminar, Wednesday, September 9, at noon in the Hospital Annex classroom, located at 1800 Alice St. in Waycross.

The seminar, “Your Brain Matters: Recognizing the signs that can save your life,” will feature Dr. Grzegorz Brzezicki, a neuroendovascular surgeon. Attendees will learn about brain aneurysms and other neurosurgical and endovascular concerns, including warning signs of neurological emergencies and when to seek care.
Dr. Brzezicki is now seeing patients at Memorial Satilla Specialists - Advanced Surgery in Waycross. The practice is located at 1908 Alice Street.
Suicide Awareness Walk set for Sept. 19
The third annual Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, September 19 at the Waycross-Ware County Airport, 3098 Keen Drive.
The walk will begin around 5:30 p.m. Lindsey Tucker Tatum will be among the guest speakers. There will be a variety of vendors, information booths, gift drawings and free hot dogs, chips and drinks.
The walk honors those lost and offers support for mental health and suicide prevention. Attendees are urged to bring a lawn chair.
Proceeds benefit the non-profit organization Daniel Smile, Inc.
