Mosley Hinson Mosley, 93, of Jesup, passed away, Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
A native of Jeff Davis County, he was the youngest of five children born to Nan Lou Mosley and Robert Mosley.
After finishing school in Screven, he worked three years with Atlantic Coast Railroad, then served four years with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home from the military, he went to work with Rayonier, where he worked for 37 years and retired in 1994. During this time, he took night courses from Waycross College, graduated from Foxboro Instrumentation School and ran the family farm.
He was an active member of Odum Baptist Church. He was a charter member of the Young Farmers, served on the supervisory committee of the Altamaha Federal Credit Union, and active in the Local 787 and the Screven Masonic Lodge 368, where he recently was awarded his 50 year apron.
He was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1992 and served for 14 years on several committees, but primarily the Appropriations Committee, where he chaired the Game, Fish, and Parks Committee, and the Transportation Committee, where he was Vice-Chairman. Much of the areas four lane highways on U.S. Highway 84 and U.S. Highway 301 in Wayne County bears the mark of his hard work and dedication.
After he retired from the Legislature, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Satilla REMC in 2007, where he served as a Vice-Chairman until he retired. His goal was always to serve people with honesty and integrity, and a friend called him truly, “the people’s representative”.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Osteen (Mildred) Mosley, J.E. (Eudell) Mosley, Conrad (Kathryn) Mosley and Wayne Mosley and sisters, Dot Scott Leggett and Delaine Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Linda Lawson Mosley, four children, Kim (Mel) Wages, Andy (Starla) Mosley, Sharon (Harold) Hilton, and Darrell (Venita) Mosley; one brother, R.N. Mosley; one sister, Lee Mosley Roberts, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 3, from the Calvary Baptist Church in Jesup with the Rev. Vann Dempsey, Chaplain Phil Bunce and the Rev. Kipp Manning officiating.
Interment followed in Screven City Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Active pallbearers were his family.
Honorary pallbearers were the members of Odum Baptist Church and the Hospice of South Georgia Staff.

Shirlyn Gail Gallagher
Shirlyn Gail Gallagher, 75, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, following an extended illness.
She was born in Blackshear to the late Winston Kicklighter and Mary Lee Johnson Kicklighter. Gail was a dedicated and respected teacher with the Pierce County Board of Education. She taught at Ware Street Elementary School before eventually retiring from Blackshear Elementary School. She loved working with children and helping to develop young minds in a community she loved dearly. She was a Christian who loved the Lord and had formerly attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo and reading. She was also an animal lover with a huge heart and an abundance of patience. For the last three years, she and her husband enjoyed living at Satilla Bluffs Senior Care, where she developed many lasting friendships with the wonderful residents there.
Survivors include her husband, David John Gallagher, Blackshear; two daughters, Ginnie Carter (Bruce) and Karen Owens, both of Blackshear; four grandchildren, Katelynn Carter Scott (Josh), Matthew Carter, Brayden Owens and David Hollis Owens; four siblings, Sandra Brice (Joe), Atlanta, Sue Gibbs (Eulin), Hartwell, Kay Proctor (Julian), Woodbine and Jerry Kicklighter (Cindy), Blackshear and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her wishes were to be cremated and buried alongside her husband.
