JESUP – Pierce County Middle School’s cross-country teams posted top three finishes here Thursday in the Wayne County Invitational meet.
The Lady Bears ran to a third-place finish September 3 in the seventeam girls’ event finishing with 80 points. Richmond Hill easily won the title with a 27point total. Southeast Bulloch Middle School finished between the Lady Wildcats and PCMS with 54 points.
Trailing Pierce Middle were Toombs County Middle School (97), host Wayne County Middle School (112), Atkinson County Middle School (178) and Midway Middle School (210).
Richmond Hill Middle’s Wildcats made it a clean sweep winning the eight-team boys’ meet by 20 points over PCMS, 43-63. Trailing the Bears were Atco Middle (74), Wayne Middle (95), Toombs Middle (115), SEB Middle (130), Midway Middle (216) and Wilcox County Middle School (239).
The Lady Bears’ top finisher was Khlare Hewitt, who placed 11th in the field of 93 runners with a time of 15:36. The winning time was 13:00.
Rounding out the PCMS team score were Jaciee Neal (12th; 15:37), Irene Sanchez (24th; 17:14), Calie Jones (25th; 17:26) and Kaylee Carpenter (26th; 17:27). Also participating for the Lady Bears were Erica Coggin (36th; 18:10), Ruytu Goswami (41st; 18:31), Autumn McFarland (76; 23:51), Masey Lawrence (79th; 24:30) and Nyla Fuller (81st; 25:24).
The Bears had four runners clocked in the top 11 spots led by the 8th-place showing of Cam Yeomans, who posted a time of 13:28.16, in the field of 116 runners. The winning time was 11:50.
Following Yeomans for the team score were Nate Carlson (9th; 13:28.86), Max Warren (10th; 12:29.31), Paxton Cochran (11th; 13:29.62) and Brody Aldridge (27th; 14:21). PCMS’s squad also included Phoenix Usher (30th; 14:28), Johnny Pena (34th; 14:38), Diego Carilio- Sierra (75th; 16:47), Case Morris (76th; 16:48), Andy Torrres (78th; 16:49), Brantley Gilbert (80th; 17:01), Kade Crapps (81st; 17:03) and Marcus Cowens (93rd; 19:09).
