VALDOSTA — Southeastern Credit Union has announced a $10,000 donation to the Waycross chapter Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
The chapter, founded in June 2025, already has provided 152 beds to children ages 3 to 17, and currently has 28 children on the waiting list.
“We’re overwhelmed by the generosity and support of Southeastern Credit Union for our Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace,” Co-President of (SHP) Delores Gibson said. “We were astounded at the number of children sleeping on the floor, on a sofa, or in a bed with multiple people. We estimate it costs $250 per child to put a bed in their home.
“This donation equates to 40 more children in Ware and Pierce County who get a bed. The impact is immeasurable and is one more step to reaching our goal of No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town.”
For 73 years, SCU has been dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our members and the communities it serves. SCU remains committed to supporting the well-being of families throughout the region by supporting organizations that create real, lasting impact.
“At Southeastern Credit Union, we truly believe that membership means more,” said SCU Chief Executive Officer Jennifer Stasio. “It means looking out for our neighbors and ensuring our local youth have the foundation they need to thrive. Partnering with the Waycross chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace allows us to put that philosophy into action.
“Every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to sleep, and we’re incredibly proud to support an organization that brings sweet dreams to local families.”
