April Ferrell is the 20262027 Pierce County School District Teacher of the Year.
An educator in her 21st year of teaching, all at Patterson Elementary School (PES) where she was selected by her peers as PES Teacher of the Year, Ferrell was chosen for the top spot from among the five candidates each representing a school in the Pierce County district. Honored alongside the other four teachers at a system-wide meeting prior to the start of the 2026-2027 school year, Ferrell will go on to represent Pierce County in the search for the Georgia Teacher of the Year.
Candidates for Teacher of the Year are nominated by their peers. PES Principal Amanda Lankford shared with The Times some of the testimonials Ferrell’s coworkers wrote about her during the nomination process.
