STATESBORO — Pierce County’s Bears logged a seventh-place finish here Thursday at the 20-team Frazier- Hite Invitational cross-country meet held at 7th Mile Farm and hosted by Southeast Bulloch.
PCHS totaled 208 points. Savannah Arts Academy ran away from the field placing seven runners in the Top 15 spots with five finishing in the Top 10 to finish with 31 points.
SEB’s Ransom Cribbs won the event with a time of 18:00.18 in the field of 239 runners.
The Lady Bears did not compete in the girls’ meet.
Trailing Savannah Arts for the top 10 spots were Habersham School (83 points), Southeast Bulloch (128), Tattnall County (162), Savannah Christian (176), Effingham County (201), PCHS, Statesboro (210), Islands of Savannah (221) and Evans of Augusta (302).
The rest of the field included Bryan County (306), Woodville-Tompkins (318), Trinity Christian (384), Harlem (400), First Presbyterian Christian Academy (404), Central Georgia Athletes (428), Jenkins County (442), Coastal Homeschool Athletic Association (444), Metter (448) and St. Andrews School (611). The Bears were led by the 26thplace finish of Brandon Yepes, who posted a time of 21:18.09. He was followed by Jared Watson (30th; 21:3185), Breck Benton (48th; 22:20.71), Brooks Roberson (50th; 22:22.95) and Cooper Johnson (81st; 23:33.71) for the team score.
Also participating were Coleman Lee (123rd; 24:48.28), Matthew Stone (127th; 24:57.30), Samuel Carrillo (144th; 25:46.36) and Jaxon Williams (223rd; 34:56.44).
Pierce County is scheduled to compete Thursday, September 3 in Jesup at the Wayne County Invitational.
