Richard Nelson Thrower

BRUNSWICK — Richard Nelson Thrower, 84 of Brunswick, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Sears Coastal Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Thrower was born August 28, 1941, in Brunswick to James Nelson Thrower and Eva Cleo Pars ons Thrower. He graduated high school in Arkansas City, Kansas, before moving back to the Georgia Coast. He had lived in Brunswick and Waycross.

In Brunswick, he was the co-owner of Coastal Decorators. In Waycross, he was a self-employed painter and wallpaper hanger. Thrower then moved back to Brunswick for his official retirement. He loved boating, fishing and watching NASCAR racing.

Thrower was preceded in death by his father, James Nelson Thrower; his mother, Eva Cleo Parsons Busby; a daughter, Christa Thrower; a grandson, Kyle William Mock; a great granddaughter, Harleigh Lane Thrower; and a brother, J.D. Thrower.

He is survived by his children, Paul Thrower (Brittany) of Sumter, S.C., and Melanie Mock of Hoboken; siblings, Alan Thrower (Jeanette) of Tennessee, Jean Moore (Mike) of South Carolina and CleEtta Fisk (Joe) of North Carolina; a sisterin- law, Christine Thrower-Skinner of Florida,;grandchildren, Jacob Thrower, Molly Thrower, Brooklin Thompson and Kristopher Mock; great grandchildren, Harley and Anakin Mock, Connor Edwards and Cason Smith; and numerous nieces and

nephews; his cherished longtime friend, Betty Warwick and her children, Suzanne Bokor (Micky) and Sydney Bokor, whom he loved and regarded as his own children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, 2:00pm, at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jerry Thrower officiating. A private burial will follow.
