RAYBON – Derek Claude “Clipper” Smith, 74, of Raybon passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026, at his residence.

Born in Waycross, Smith’s parents were Claude Smith and Ione Ham Smith. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Dru Smith; his father and mother-in-law, Enoch and Marlyn Smith; two brothers- in-law, Ronnie Baxley and Alan Smith; and three sisters-in-law, Linda Cook, Teresa Kelley and Tina Coyne.
Smith was retired from OREMC and loved to farm. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was able.
Survivors include his wife, Sherri Smith of Raybon; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Sissy Baxley of Hortense, Kay Duncan (Robert) of Daisy, Dara Smith and Dodi Bullard (Frank) all of Raybon; a brother and sisterin- law, Deck Smith (Angie) of Raybon; three brothers-in-law, Sammy Smith, Enoch Smith, Jr. both of Gainesville, and Tony Smith of Hortense; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Smith of Oakwood; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
