HORTENSE — David Lee Mallard, 60 of Hortense, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, after an extended illness.
Mallard was born in Brunswick to the late Lee Roy Mallard and Marjorie Ann Daffron Mallard. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan who enjoyed college
Mallard
football, racing and fishing.
He leaves behind a son, Dustin Mallard (Marah) of Nahunta; a daughter, Tiffany Sumner (Leslie) of Blackshear; a brother, Jeff Mallard (Pam) of Waynesville; a sister LeAnn Flax (Sparke); four grandchildren Eleanor Sumner, Ellison Mallard, Shep Sumner and Charlee Mallard; his former spouse and mother of his children, Kim Mallard of Blythe Island, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
The family will hold a private burial at a later date.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
