Sue Marshall Macomber, 72, of Blackshear, passed away peacefully the morning of Friday, August 28, 2026, at her home in the company of her beloved family.
Born June 11, 1954, in Miami, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Arvil Baker and Lenore Jacqueline "Jacky" Marshall. She grew up in Florida where she met and married Sandy, the love of her life of 52 years and moved to Pierce County in 2019. She worked in the medical field for many years, serving as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), surgical scrub technician and home health aide.
Upon moving to Pierce County, she joined her loving church at Southgate Baptist Church and was faithfully active in the churches she attended throughout her life. She served in many areas of ministry, including the nursery and kitchen, in addition to serving with the visitation outreach ministry and as a member of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU). She also faithfully remembered others by sending greeting cards to families within the church, a simple gesture that reflected her caring heart and love for others.
One of her favorite things to do was feeding the birds, making sure her feathered friends were always well fed.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Sandy Macomber, Blackshear; two daughters, Dawn Boyd (husband Travis), Blackshear and Sandi Wiles (husband Jeffrey) of Maine; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Macomber (wife Sarah), Eric Hickmon (wife Emerald), Sandy Wiles, Nathaniel Wiles (wife Taylor), Zack Wiles, Joshua Wiles and Rebecca Wiles; two great-grandchildren, Sandy Macomber and Ray Macomber and two more expected soon; seven siblings, Glenna Dockweiler Marshall, Lu-Jo Karkovice (husband John), Bridget Baker, Victoria Mauney (husband Alan), Fred Marshall (wife Dana), Gary Michael Marshall "Mick" and Don Marshall (wife Beverly), several nieces, nephews and other relatives, and their four-legged family members Bosch, Bailey and Scout.
A personal sentiment from her daughters and husband: "Although we always have and always will love and miss you, we know the distance between us is only temporal, and one glorious day we will once again be together, reunited in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to be separated nevermore. You courageously fought the demon named cancer three different times in three years and your strength and determination throughout those challenges was a testament and a testimony of your unwavering faith. You continue to be an inspiration to us all. You fought the good fight, finished the course, and you have kept the faith. We love you mom."
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, from the Southgate Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Colley officiating.
