A Waycross man has been arrested in connection to an incident early Sunday morning in which a Blackshear man was stabbed in the parking lot of a Blackshear convenience store, Blackshear Police Department Chief Chris Wright said.
Shawn Michale Cason, 20, of Waycross, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following the incident shortly before 1 a.m. at the Circle K on Gordon Street, Chief Wright said. Cason was booked into the Pierce County Jail where he remained Monday, August 24.
According to Chief Wright, BPD officers responded at 12:48 a.m. to a report of a stabbing at the Circle K located across from the Pierce County Courthouse.
Wesley Mancil, 34, of Blackshear, was stabbed multiple times during a dispute in the parking lot, authorities said.
Mancil was transported by Pierce County EMS to Memorial Satilla Health for treatment of wounds. He was listed in stable condition after treatment.

Cason
Police said the suspect in the stabbing fled the scene.
Cason was located and apprehended a short time later at his residence by deputies with the Ware County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Wright said the investigation is active. He said investigators are continuing to interview witnesses, and additional charges may be filed.
