GFB honors Smith
Georgia Farm Bureau president Tom McCall and his wife, Jane, recently presented Georgia House Rep. Lynn Smith with the 2026 GFB Commodity Award during the annual GFB Commodity Conference in Tifton. The award, one of the organization’s highest honors, is given to individuals who’ve supported and promoted Georgia agriculture. The Board of Directors selects the recipient from nominees submitted by the GFB commodity advisory committees. “Lynn always kept the interest of farmers’ success in the forefront of policy decision that came before her committee,” McCall said. “Her leadership and passion for Georgia and the state’s invaluable and varied natural resources will be carried into the future for generations to come.” Smith is a University of Georgia graduate, former educator, and business owner who completed her 30th year in the General Assembly earlier this year representing District 70. As a legislator, Smith has been a trusted champion for state farmers, foresters, and rural communities. SPECIAL PHOTO
