A tribute to the Washington Family of Pierce County
Editor , The Times, There is a lady with a special birthday coming up September 26, 2026. Mrs. Naomi Washington Whitehead will be 116 years old on this day. That alone is worthy of recognition, but this lady has a lot more than that going for her. By her own testimony, the Word has had a large place in her life for many years. I never had the privilege of knowing her when she lived in Patterson, but I have known so many of this Washington family that I feel a bit of a connection to Mrs. Naomi.
The first of this line of Washingtons I knew was the first Isabelle Washington, sister-in-law to Mrs. Naomi. I came to know this dear lady around 1966 when she came to my rescue in helping me with our four little girls. I would have never made it through those little girls to teenagers without Isabelle.
