Peggy Darlene Cook Strickland, 83, of Patterson, formerly of Nassauville, FL, passed away Friday morning, August 21, 2026, at Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.

Born in Fernandina Beach, FL November 10, 1942, she was raised in the Nassauville community, where she would live until moving to Patterson in 2008.  She attended Yulee High School, where she was the fastest female runner on the track team. She loved to dance in her younger years, which was one of her qualities that caught the eye of Alvin Strickland, whom she would marry and spend the next 67 years together with, building a family, as well as many business adventures.  A woman of true humbleness, she was never one to brag about her accomplishments.  She will be deeply missed.

She was a daughter of the late Dave and Annie Keith Cook.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Alvin Strickland Sr., Patterson; a daughter, Scarlett Powell, Fernandina Beach, FL; a son, Alvin Jackson “Jackie” Strickland Jr., Hilliard, FL; her sisters, Ornez Jones, Fernandina Beach, FL and Martha Reddick, Yulee, FL; grandchildren, Christopher Powell and Skyler Powell and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorialization will be by cremation.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later time.

Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online guestbook at www.pearsondial.com.

Pearson-Dial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Strickland family during this time.
