Culvert work closes Hamilton Work to repair a culvert by Waycross Public Works Department has closed Hamilton Street between Brunel and Wardlaw, the city announced Thursday.
The area will be closed until further notice for the work. The city recommended using Washington Avenue to avoid the area.

City, Goodwill hold career fair Aug. 20 The City of Waycross and Goodwill of Southeast Georgia partner to stage a Career & Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, August 21 at C.C. McCray City Auditorium, 865 Pendleton Street.
More than a dozen organizations are expected for the event. Attendees are encouraged to brings copies of a resumè or work history and be dressed for an on-site interview.
Amvets auxiliary sets bingo benefit The Womens Auxiliary of Amvets Post 621 holds its second annual Bingo Day scholarship fundraiser at 4 p.m., Saturday, September 12 at the Okefenokee Lions Club, 711 Columbus Street.

Brantley cemetery sets cleanup day High Bluff Cemetery holds its bi-annual cleanup day, Monday morning, September 7.
All are welcome to help in the effort, which will continue through the week. Attendees should bring tools.
The cemetery also is seeking donations for maintenance of the grounds through the year.

Yaun demonstrates plein air art at OHC The Okefenokee Heritage Center, 1460 N. Augusta Avenue, is hosting a live plein air art demonstration at 5:30 p.m., Monday, August 24.
Contemporary impressionistic Don Yaun, whose work currently is in a month-long exhibit at OHC, will be the presenter.
Yaun is a celebrated artist and photographer throughout the South, and his work has been featured in several magazines and hung in the state capitol. He specializes in landscapes, wildlife, florals and studio art.
He also will be a special guest at the OHC Art Guild’s meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 25 for a special presentation. The meeting is open to the public.
