BLACKSHEAR — Mr. Bobby Lee Dean, 94, of Blackshear passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family Friday afternoon, August 14, 2026, at his residence after an extended illness.

Dean was born in Blackshear to the late Fred Lee Dean and Maggie Blount Dean, and made Pierce County his home for all of his life. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy and spent most of his life doing what he loved — farming. He enjoyed riding horses, motorcycles, and most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a “True Man of Grit and Grace.”

In addition to his parents, Dean was also preceded in death by five siblings, Maggie Lou Carver, Fred Earl Dean, Glenn Lewis Dean, Sr., Elizabeth Dean Henderson, and Evelyn Dean Adams.

Dean is survived by his daughter, Annette Dean Myers (late Victor) of Blackshear; a granddaughter, Deana Myers Sweat of Alma; a great granddaughter, Jacklyn Dean Wells of Alma; nieces, Charlene Wacaser (Bobby) and Shelly Lee (Rusty); nephews, Tim Adams (Laura) and Kelley Adams (Patricia); a special friend, Faye Penlande; as well as numerous cousins and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, August 19) in Oakland Cemetery.
