Ware County 4-H recognized outstanding youth and volunteers earlier this summer during its annual awards program.
The event celebrated achievements in livestock, shooting sports, leadership, citizenship, public speaking, and community service.
Among the evening’s highlights was the presentation of the inaugural Ginger Boatright Star 4H’er Award, a new honor established in memory of former Ware County 4-H Agent Ginger Boatright.
The first recipient of the award was Greyson Christmas, who received the award from Boatright’s family.
The agent dedicated many years to serving local youth, and was known for her passion for 4-H, particularly livestock and horse programs, as well as unwavering support and encouragement of young people.
The award was created to continue her legacy of leadership, service, and excellence in the Ware County 4-H program.
Additional major award recipients included:
• Lee Simmons, recipient of the Kenneth Mc-Carthy Outstanding Livestock Exhibitor Award, recognizing dedication and achievement in livestock projects.
• Elle Roderiquez, recipient of the PB&J Award for Most Improved 4-H’er.
• Landon Stone, recipient of the Tom Boland Citizenship Award for outstanding community service, leadership, and character.
• Gabby Howard, recipient of both the Yvonne Turner Knox–Michael Davis 4-H Scholarship and the Ware County 4-H Scholarship.
The program also celebrated significant team accomplishments, including the Ware County 4-H Junior .22 Rimfire Team winning the Georgia 4-H State Championship and Precision Air Rifle Team 1 earning the Georgia 4-H State Championship title.
Ware County 4-H leaders expressed gratitude to the many volunteers, families, and supporters whose dedication helps local youth develop leadership, citizenship, and life skills through 4-H programs.
