Some Georgia High School’s “big boy” programs are many schools to have reached the 70-win plateau since 2020.
Pierce County is among the 11 heavyweights tied with Milton and four-time Class A DI champion Bowden for ninth-place with
70 wins.
The Bears of head coach Ryan Herring are 70-11 during the first six years of the decade with a Class AAA state title (2020) and Class AA crown (2023). PCHS is 81-12 entering Herring’s eighth campaign.
Pierce County’s 70 wins is second to two-time defending champion Carver-Columbus’s mark of 71-11 for the top spot in the new Class AAA alignment. Rockmart and Thomson are each 62-15 — the third largest gap for schools with 70 wins.
Milton is 70-13 with a
2023 Class 7A championship and a 2024 Class 5A title. Currently in 6A, Milton trails Hughes, who won the 2022 Class 6A crown, with a 73-10 mark.
Bowden’s mark is 70-14 with state titles from
2022-25. Clinch County and Lincoln County are each 57-19 — the largest gap of any division.
Buford, the Class 6A state champion and national champion, leads the way with a 76-7 record. The Wolves last won titles in 2020 and 2021.
Carrolton (74-9) and Grayson (71-12, 2020 Class 7A champ, 2024 Class 6A champ) are the only other 70-win programs in the highest classification. Colquitt County is fourth at 59-13.
Behind Hughes and Milton in Class 6A is 2025 Class 4A champion Creekside at 66-14.
Cartersville (71-8) and Marist (70-13, 2020 Class
4A champion) top Class
5A. North Oconee is third. Ware County’s 56-17 ledger is seventh.
There are no 70-game nor 60-game winners in Class 4A. Calhoun leads the way at 57-21. Sandy Creek (56-14; 2022 Class
3A, 2025 Class 3A) follows with three other schools having recorded 50 wins each (Troup 50-20, Peach Count 50-21, Oconee County 50-25).
Toombs County, the
2024 Class A DI champion and 2025 Class A DI runnerup is seventh in Class
3A at 54-20. Appling County is 11th sporting a
49-27 mark after having
10 wins stripped two season ago for using an ineligible player.
Fitzgerald tops Class 2A with a 69-16 record and a
2021 Class A state title. Rabun County is second at
60-17 with Brooks County third at 57-24.
Prince Avenue Christian leads the way in the Class 4A-2A Private division with a 72-12 mark with a 2020 Class A Private and back-to-back Class A DI titles in 2022 and 2023.
Calvary Day and Fellowship Christian are the only other programs with over 60 wins. Calvary Days is 67-12 while Fellowship Christian is 62-15.
