ST. SIMONS ISLAND — Alice Faye Phillips Godfrey passed away early Saturday morning, August 8, 2026 at Heritage Oaks Nursing Home on St. Simons

Island.
Mrs. Godfrey was born November 10, 1946, in Brunswick to Alza and Alice Phillips. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Horace Godfrey; sister, Alicia; and brothers, Buddy (Sherry) and Michael Phillips.
Mrs. Godfrey is survived by her children, Shawn Lawrence (Amber), Mark Godfrey, Julie Scott and Margaret Godfrey; grandchildren, Sierra Henderson, Jessica Fisher, Karah Brantley, Daylan Lawrence, Faith Lawrence, Layla Lawrence, Caleb Scott, Tre Scott, Courtney Heaton and Miranda Blount; great grandchildren, Rosie Henderson, Lily Henderson, Daisy Fisher, Caydence Cook, Lakely Beck, Georgia Heaton, Gracey Scott and Harlan Brantley; nieces, Rhonda Smith (James), Donna Phillips, Tammy Phillips and Jeannie Phillips; and nephews, Corey Phillips, Michael Phillips and Ronnie Wilson.
The family is grateful to the staff of Heritage Oaks for the gentle, sympathetic and loving care provided to Mrs. Phillips during her stay.
She was a long-time member of the Waynesville Church of God and loved providing Wednesday evening meals for the church family. She also loved teaching children in Sunday School at the church.
Mrs. Godfrey loved animals and rescued many dogs and cats.
She will be missed by her family, who are comforted by knowing she is in the arms of her Savior.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 14, 2026 at 11 a.m., at Waynesville Church of God.
Reverend Larry Giles will be officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Frye Funeral Home.
