Over the past couple of weeks, I have talked with several different publishing companies about my Okefenokee Swamp book.
Each one has told me their opinions of what they can do or would do and many of them make promi ses that I’m not sure that are entirely true.
Years ago, I went through this and even sent a book or two to Barnes & Noble and Books A Million to try to get my books in their stores.
Most of the time they wanted to know who my publisher was. When they found out I was self-publishing my books, that was about as far as it would go.
This time I talked with Dorrance Publishing Company in Pittsburgh (Pa.). They wanted to see one of my books, so I mailed them one.
I just got a message back. They do want to work with me and said I will be added to their catalog of books.
I have a conference call with them Thursday (Augut 20). They will fill me in on the details on what all of this means.
I was about to place an order for more books and it was going to cost a lot of money. If they can be my publisher, this can surely take a load off of me having to do it all on my own.
I should know a lot more by next week.
