Ronald Westberry, 104

Ronald Westberry, 104 years old and going strong, was treated to a special August 12 ceremony at Harborview Pierce, where he is a resident. Earlier this year, Westberry was the recipient of the Leona Dixon Bright Spot Award, but was unable to attend the annual Chamber Gala to accept the recognition. Instead, Westberry was presented with his official award, a poster, some cake and plenty of applause at Harborview. Westberry is the last living member of the founders of Emmanuel Baptist Church and is noted for his cheerful demeanor and his faith in God. Shown above with Westberry (seated) are (l-r) Sharon McPherson, Jennifer Sapp, Wesberry’s great-nephew, Buddy Griner, Westberry’s niece Cynthia Griner, Stacy Thrift, Bason Beard, Christi Pitts, Joe Biagini, Stephanie Moody and Shaketia Black.
