
Carolyn Ann Sweat Huggins, 83, of Alma, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 12, 2026, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, following an extended illness.
Born May 10, 1943, in Pierce County, she was a daughter of the late Archie Rudolph and Betty Lee Sweat. She was a graduate of Blackshear High School and had attended Valdosta State University and obtained a degree in music from Waycross College. She lived for several years in Marietta where she worked for Lockheed Martin before returning to Pierce County where she owned New Images Fitness Center but was retired as a clerk for CSX Transportation. Following retirement, she and her husband owned and operated Andrew’s Café in Waycross.
A long-time member of Beulah Baptist Church, she had been active in Sunday school and the choir and served as the church secretary for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chester Huggins; and three sisters, Virginia Sweat Lewis, Everlyn Sweat Smith and Iris Jean Sweat Mixon.
Survivors include her three children, Renee Clough Choate, Andrew Lee Clough III (wife Edurne) and Archie Clough (wife Mysti), all of Blackshear; five grandchildren, Jackson Clough (wife Emily), Nathaniel Choate, Elena Clough, Ane Clough and Kate Clough; her black lab, Bruce; a sister, Sandra Sweat Crews (husband Lawton), Waycross; two step-children, Robin Peters and Ray Huggins and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, from the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Tuttle officiating.
