Virginia Nix

GRIFFIN, Ga. — Mrs. Virginia Nix, 85, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, at Brightmoor Nursing Center in Griffin after a chronic illness, with care provided through Brightmoor Nursing Center and more recently Brightmoor Hospice.

Born in Ball Ground, Ga., she was the daughter of Mary “Frances” Moulder and Y.J. Thomason. Mrs. Nix retired from Eckerd Drug in Waycross after more than 20 years of service.

She loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She cherished time with them and the memories they created together.

Mrs. Nix will be remembered for her love, warmth, and devotion to her family. The family is especially grateful to the staff of Brightmoor Nursing Center/Hospice for their compassionate care, kindness, and dignity shown throughout her time there.

Mrs. Nix was preceded in death by her parents, Mary “Frances” Moulder and Y.J. Thomason; husband, J.D. Nix; companion, Hal Hitt; brothers, Johnny Thomason, Billy Thomason, and Jackie Thomason; and sisters, Ann Cloud and Faye Hales.

She is survived by her son, Chris Nix (Cathy); daughter, Kelly Nix Brown (Mark); grandchildren, John Griffin, Ranna Nix, and Riley Nix; sisters, Trina Barrows, Christy Doyle Jack, and Jimmie Sue Townsend Foster; brother, Stanley Nagler; and numerous extended family. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A funeral service was held August 11 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
