Amanda Taylor, an EKG technician in the Heart Center at Memorial Satilla Health has been named the latest recipient of the Sunflower Award, honoring extraordinary staff members who demonstrate exceptional care and compassion. The award is presented quarterly and recognizes non-nursing staff members. Taylor, a resident of Blackshear who’s been a part of the MSH staff for 14 years, was nominated by both patients and colleagues. “I met Amanda as I was walking down the hallway with my grandma. She was very kind to us. She took over pushing my grandmother in her wheelchair and helped us outside,” said a patient caregiver in Taylor’s nomination. “She was very sweet and funny. Talking to her was the perfect end to our visit. When we came back a couple of days later, we ran into her again, and she remembered our names. She represented your hospital in a positive way. Another staff member said, “Amanda has gone above and beyond to support me throughout my complicated pregnancy. As my restrictions changed, she never complained about adjusting her schedule, even rearranging her own plans to cover every other Saturday when I could no longer work. She has never made me feel like an inconvenience and always encourages me to follow my doctor's orders. Amanda is compassionate, dependable, and truly a joy to work with.”
