The Blackshear Exchange Club recently welcomed, Pierce County Bears Head Coach, Ryan Herring, to their weekly meeting.
He is very proud but humbled to have two state championships under his belt while coaching at Pierce County. He lives and coaches his team by the mission statement: Give God Glory. Herring said his philosophy is to treat his coaches and players with respect, while at the same time teaching them discipline.
His goal is not only to create a good player, but to play a part in the way they turn out as future citizens, spouses and parents.
“If you care about your team, treat them with respect, and grow in your relationships with them, it’s easier to coach them harder,” said Herring He wants them all to be smart, tough and have faith in the Lord to help guide their futures.
The Bears first game is August 21 against Coosa Christian School. They have a lot of tough games this year against, Swainsboro, Toombs and Appling to name a few.
He looks forward to the season and believes his coaches and players are up for the challenges.
