Nichols
HORTENSE – James Carl Nichols, 58 of Hortense, passed away Tuesday evening, August 4, 2026 after a brief illness.
Born in St. Mary’s, his parents are Shirley Robins o n Nichols of Hortense and the late Charles Nichols. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Purdee Nichols; a brother, George Nichols; and an uncle, Roger Nichols.
Nichols was a farmer who loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kristy Rowland (James) of Nahunta; a son and daughter-in-law, Cameron Nichols (Abby) of Hortense; five grandchildren, Kirsten Nichols, Taylor Rowland, Alvin Rowland, Cheyenne Rowland and Hunter Rowland; a great grandchild and one on the way, Easton Nichols; his sister, Tina Gill of Hortense; two nieces, Shyann Gill and Nikki Gill; two great nieces, Scarlett Gill and Ivey Gill; and also several other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service was held Tuesday afternoon, August 11, 2026 at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
