Tammy Denise Herrin Groover

LAKE PARK, Ga. — Mrs. Tammy Denise Herrin Groover, 65, passed away suddenly Friday afternoon, August 7, 2026, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.

Mrs. Groover was born December 16, 1960 in Ware County to the late Rev. Fred Lorin Herrin and Clara Nell Dixon Herrin.

She graduated from Valdosta State University

with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RNBSN). Mrs. Groover devoted her career to caring for others and educating future nurses.

Mrs. Groover retired from Wiregrass Technical College after 25 years of service as a nursing instructor. She also formerly worked as a nurse at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta and Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. In addition, she taught nursing at ABAC in Tifton and Moultrie Tech in Moultrie.

Mrs. Groover was raised in Hacklebarney Baptist Church in Pierce County. She enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and beloved dogs.

Above all, Mrs. Groover will be remembered for her compassionate heart and her willingness to always help others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Allen Herrin.

Survivors include her husband, David Rothell Groover, Jr., of Lake Park, Ga.; her daughter, Emily Groover Pritchett (Jesse) of Stone Mountain; her niece, Amanda Herrin; her uncle, Clinton Herrin (Carrol) of Hoboken; and her cousins, Buddy and Mark Herrin.

A funeral service will be held today (Wednesday, August 12, 2026) at 2 p.m., at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
