Willie Lawton Bennett Jr., 85, of St. Marys, passed away peacefully at his residence Monday, August 3, 2026.
Born November 18, 1940 in Stockton, he was the son of the late Willie Lawton Bennett Sr. and Pearl Williams Bennett. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Madge King Bennett.
A proud resident of Camden County since 1962, he retired after a long career with Gilman Paper Company and proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include his children, Petresa Lynn Bennett, Blackshear, Sherry Zimerle (Steve),  and Dusty Bennett, both of St. Marys and Brandi Bennett, Woodbine; grandchildren, Kayla Lewis, Neal Carr, Dustin McCoy, Blake Manning, Nicholas McCoy, Brae Carter and Holden Simpson; great‑granddaughters: Kenlie Lewis and Kaylee Callaway and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-noon Friday, August 7, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.
A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, August 7, from the chapel of Allison Memorial Chapel with Jarrett Johns officiating.
The graveside service will be a private family gathering at Waters Cemetery near Blackshear.
Pallbearers include Neal Carr, Dustin McCoy, Blake Manning, Nicholas McCoy, Alex Addy and John Brazell.
Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys is handling the arrangements.
